Yr5 and Yr6 trip to London on Tuesday 18/11/2025
We’re really pleased to let you know that Classes 4 and 5 (Yr 5 and Yr6) will be visiting London on Tuesday 18th
November. This trip is part of our 11 by 11 offer, giving every child the chance to experience a visit to our capital city.
It’s going to be a busy and exciting day. We’ll visit the Tower of London to take part in the Crime and Punishment
workshop, enjoy a boat trip along the River Thames, and finish with a walk through the famous Leake Street Graffiti
Tunnels.
We’ll be travelling by train - meeting on Platform 2 at Totnes train station at 6:50am (ready for a 7:06am departure)
and returning to Platform 1 at Totnes Station at 8:45pm. Please make sure you arrive promptly in the morning by
6:50am so that everyone is ready to board the train on time. If you are unable to get your child to the station on
time, please let us know and we will do all we can to ensure all children are able to attend. We will communicate any
delays on our return journey through Classlist, so please make sure you are signed up and able to receive messages.
Children will need a refillable, unbreakable water bottle, and a packed breakfast, lunch and tea. Breakfast will be
eaten on the train, lunch at the Tower of London and tea on the journey home. Every child must have a coat and
comfortable walking shoes, as we’ll be outside for much of the day. Please note that no electronic devices are
allowed on the trip, and there will be no opportunity to spend any money, so please do not send any.
We expect all children to show kind, thoughtful and safe behaviour throughout the day. This is a wonderful
opportunity to explore our capital city, and we want everyone to enjoy themselves while representing the school
proudly. Poor behaviour will not be tolerated, and a contingency plan will be in place for anyone making unkind or
unsafe choices.
We’ll be holding a short parent meeting on Wednesday 12th November at 5:00pm to share more details and answer
any questions. Children are welcome to attend, but there’s no need for them to if they’d rather not.
This trip has been made possible thanks to generous support from the Historic Royal Palaces Access Fund and the
Friends of Blackawton (FOBS), who are covering the remaining shortfall. Because of this, there is no charge to
parents. FOBS will also be setting up a voluntary donations fund for anyone who would like to contribute towards
future trips, but there is absolutely no expectation to do so.
We’re very grateful to Historic Royal Palaces and FOBS for helping us make this special experience possible. It
promises to be a fantastic day of learning and adventure, and we can’t wait to take the children to London for what
we’re sure will be a memorable trip.
Please complete the permission slip below and return it to the school office by Monday 10/11/2025.
With best wishes
The year 5 and 6 Team
